Description

The Sales and Marketing Officer Teller is responsible for handling day-to-day banking transactions while also promoting and selling financial products and services to customers. This dual role involves performing teller duties such as cash handling, deposits, and withdrawals, as well as engaging in sales and marketing efforts to drive the growth of banking products. The role requires excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and act on sales opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teller Operations:

    • Process customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, and loan payments accurately and efficiently.
    • Balance cash drawers at the end of the day, ensuring that there are no discrepancies and that transactions are properly recorded.
    • Handle foreign currency exchanges, money orders, and cashier's checks as requested by customers.
    • Assist customers with account inquiries, resolving issues related to transactions, and providing information on banking services.
    • Adhere to bank policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with security and fraud prevention measures.
  2. Sales and Marketing:

    • Promote and cross-sell banking products and services, such as savings accounts, credit cards, loans, and insurance products to meet customer needs.
    • Identify potential sales opportunities during customer interactions and refer them to the appropriate banking representatives or close the sale directly.
    • Actively participate in sales campaigns and promotions to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of local marketing strategies to increase the visibility of banking products and services.
    • Engage in community outreach efforts to build brand awareness and attract new business.
  3. Customer Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing personalized service and following up on their banking needs.
    • Provide financial advice and guidance to customers, helping them choose the right products for their financial goals.
    • Handle customer complaints and inquiries with professionalism and empathy, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  4. Reporting and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of all transactions, ensuring that documentation is complete and compliant with regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly sales and marketing reports to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
    • Monitor competitor activities and market trends, providing feedback and insights to management for strategy adjustments.
  5. Team Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other bank staff, including branch managers, loan officers, and marketing teams, to achieve branch and bank-wide sales targets.
    • Participate in regular training sessions and meetings to stay informed about new products, services, and sales techniques.
  6. Compliance and Security:

    • Ensure that all transactions comply with banking regulations, internal policies, and anti-money laundering (AML) requirements.
    • Safeguard customer information and maintain the confidentiality of banking operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in a sales, marketing, or teller role within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Sales Skills: Strong ability to identify customer needs and sell relevant products and services, with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in banking software and familiarity with CRM tools for tracking sales and customer interactions.
  • Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to handle transactions accurately and ensure the security of customer information.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to resolve customer issues and manage sales-related challenges effectively.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Compliance Awareness: Understanding of banking regulations and the importance of compliance in all aspects of banking operations.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily branch-based with frequent customer interactions at the teller counter.
  • May involve some travel to participate in community events or marketing initiatives.
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends, may be required to meet customer and business needs.
