The Boma Hotel is looking for a skilled and personable Barman to join our team and provide guests with an exceptional bar experience. The Barman will be responsible for preparing and serving a wide variety of beverages, offering personalized service, and maintaining a clean and welcoming bar area. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of drink recipes, be attentive to guest needs, and ensure a memorable experience for every patron.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Beverage Preparation and Service:

    • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and guest preferences.
    • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all drinks served.
    • Take guest orders promptly and courteously, offering suggestions and upselling beverages when appropriate.
  2. Guest Interaction and Service:

    • Greet and interact with guests in a friendly, professional manner, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Address guest inquiries and handle special requests or complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
    • Maintain awareness of guest needs and anticipate their requests, providing excellent customer service at all times.
  3. Bar Maintenance and Hygiene:

    • Keep the bar area, glassware, and equipment clean and organized at all times.
    • Follow health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
    • Ensure that all beverages are prepared and served in compliance with the hotel’s quality and hygiene standards.
  4. Inventory Management:

    • Monitor bar inventory levels and restock supplies as needed.
    • Assist with inventory control by recording drink sales and managing stock to minimize waste.
    • Inform management of any low stock items or required purchases to avoid shortages.
  5. Cash Handling and Reporting:

    • Accurately process guest bills and handle cash or credit transactions, following hotel policies.
    • Ensure all transactions are recorded correctly and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
    • Balance the cash register and submit reports as required at the end of each shift.
  6. Promotions and Specials:

    • Be knowledgeable about and promote any special offers, signature drinks, or themed events happening in the bar.
    • Assist in creating new cocktails or seasonal drink menus to enhance guest satisfaction.
  7. Team Collaboration:

    • Work effectively with other bar and restaurant staff to ensure smooth service during peak times.
    • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to continuously improve service standards and product knowledge.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Certificate or diploma in Hospitality, Bartending, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a barman or bartender in a reputable hotel or bar setting.
  • Excellent knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and cocktail presentation.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a warm and engaging personality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, stand for extended periods, and handle multiple tasks.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash handling skills.
