Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team at Plan Hotel Diamonds Malindi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, specifically within the hospitality industry, and a proven ability to manage and oversee financial records, reporting, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily financial operations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in the processing of transactions and financial data.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies.
- Oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Monitor cash flow and oversee bank accounts and financial transactions.
- Maintain and update the company's accounting systems, including Sun Systems, Q&A, PMS, and POS software.
- Support the Finance Manager with audits, tax filings, and financial audits.
- Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial reports.
- Provide leadership and training to junior accounting staff and ensure adherence to company financial procedures and controls.
- Participate in the development and improvement of internal accounting processes.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in Sun Systems, Q&A, Property Management System (PMS), and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards within the hospitality sector.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in financial reporting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
- Must be a Kenyan citizen or eligible to work in Kenya without the need for a work permit, as the company does not sponsor work permits or visas.
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Professional qualification in accounting (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is an added advantage.
