Procurement Manager
Description
The Karen Hospital is seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to oversee and streamline our procurement operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in procurement within healthcare or similar industries, with a deep understanding of Hospital Management Systems (HMIS). This role requires strong leadership, decision-making, and a commitment to ensuring cost-effective and timely acquisition of quality goods and services to support the hospital's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement procurement policies, strategies, and plans to meet the hospital’s operational needs.
- Forecast procurement requirements and manage budgets to ensure cost efficiency.
Vendor Management:
- Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best terms for quality and cost.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring compliance with contracts and service level agreements.
Hospital Management Systems Integration:
- Manage and utilize Hospital Management Systems (HMIS) for procurement processes.
- Ensure accurate data entry and reporting within the system to enhance efficiency and transparency.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to procurement regulations, standards, and hospital policies.
- Monitor and mitigate procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions.
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
- Conduct performance evaluations, training, and development programs for team members.
Inventory and Cost Control:
- Oversee inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstocking.
- Analyze procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present procurement reports to senior management, highlighting key metrics and improvement areas.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities for auditing and compliance purposes.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Must be registered with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
- Proven experience working with Hospital Management Systems (HMIS) is required.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain management, and inventory control.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Certification in procurement (e.g., CIPS, CPSP) is an added advantage.
