Hotel Accountant
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hotel Accountant to manage and oversee financial transactions and processes in our hospitality establishment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in accounting, a strong understanding of hotel operations, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
- Record daily financial transactions, including guest payments, vendor invoices, and operational expenses.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Budgeting and Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor actual expenses against budgeted amounts and provide variance analysis.
- Generate detailed financial reports for management review.
Revenue Auditing:
- Verify and audit daily revenue reports from front desk and point-of-sale systems.
- Ensure accurate posting of room revenues, food and beverage sales, and other income streams.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage vendor invoices, payments, and contracts.
- Track and follow up on receivables, including corporate bookings and group accounts.
Compliance and Taxation:
- Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and tax laws.
- Prepare and file VAT, income tax, and other statutory returns.
- Support external audits and provide necessary documentation.
Inventory and Asset Management:
- Oversee inventory valuation and control.
- Maintain records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement best practices.
- Train staff on accounting policies and procedures as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or ACCA certification
- At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and hotel management systems
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with management and other departments.
- Knowledge of relevant local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
