Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Hotel Accountant to manage and oversee financial transactions and processes in our hospitality establishment. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in accounting, a strong understanding of hotel operations, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Financial Management:

    • Record daily financial transactions, including guest payments, vendor invoices, and operational expenses.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Reconcile bank accounts and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
  2. Budgeting and Reporting:

    • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor actual expenses against budgeted amounts and provide variance analysis.
    • Generate detailed financial reports for management review.
  3. Revenue Auditing:

    • Verify and audit daily revenue reports from front desk and point-of-sale systems.
    • Ensure accurate posting of room revenues, food and beverage sales, and other income streams.
  4. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Manage vendor invoices, payments, and contracts.
    • Track and follow up on receivables, including corporate bookings and group accounts.
  5. Compliance and Taxation:

    • Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and tax laws.
    • Prepare and file VAT, income tax, and other statutory returns.
    • Support external audits and provide necessary documentation.
  6. Inventory and Asset Management:

    • Oversee inventory valuation and control.
    • Maintain records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
  7. Process Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and implement best practices.
    • Train staff on accounting policies and procedures as required.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or ACCA certification 
  • At least 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and hotel management systems
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong communication skills for collaboration with management and other departments.
  • Knowledge of relevant local tax regulations and compliance requirements.
