Human Resource Officer (HRO)
Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Human Resource Officer (HRO) to join our dynamic team in Nairobi. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of end-to-end HR operations, a well-rounded skill set, and a proven track record in HR practices across diversified industries. This role requires an individual who is a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) and holds a degree in HR.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Operations Management:
- Oversee and execute the full spectrum of HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and offboarding.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, HR policies, and procedures.
Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
- Develop and implement effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
- Conduct interviews, evaluate candidates, and manage the onboarding process.
Employee Relations:
- Act as the first point of contact for employee queries and grievances, ensuring prompt resolution.
- Foster a positive workplace culture and promote employee engagement initiatives.
Performance Management:
- Administer performance appraisal systems and provide guidance to managers and employees on performance improvement plans.
- Identify training needs and coordinate employee development programs.
HR Compliance and Administration:
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure adherence to HR policies and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns, including NSSF, NHIF, PAYE, and other labor-related obligations.
Payroll and Benefits Administration:
- Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Manage employee benefits, including leave, medical insurance, and other welfare programs.
Policy Development and Implementation:
- Develop, review, and update HR policies to align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
- Provide training to staff on new policies and ensure compliance across all levels.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at the Human Resource Officer level.
- Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is mandatory.
- Proven experience in diversified industries is an added advantage.
- Strong understanding of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices.
