Actuarial Data Analyst – Acre Africa
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Actuarial Data Analyst to join our agriculture insurance firm. The ideal candidate will leverage their statistical, actuarial, and data analysis expertise to support the development and pricing of agricultural insurance products. You will work closely with underwriters, actuaries, and data scientists to evaluate risk, optimize insurance policies, and deliver actionable insights to enhance decision-making.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyse historical agricultural data, climate patterns, crop yields, and insurance claims to assess risk and develop predictive models.
- Generate regular reports and dashboards to monitor portfolio performance and risk exposure.
- Actuarial Support:
- Collaborate with actuaries to design and refine pricing models for agriculture insurance products.
- Perform loss ratio analysis, exposure studies, and trend evaluations to inform underwriting decisions.
- Risk Assessment and Modelling:
- Develop and maintain statistical models to forecast crop losses, natural disaster impacts, and other agricultural risks.
- Integrate geospatial data and remote sensing technologies for enhanced risk modelling.
- Data Management:
- Collect, clean, and validate data from various sources, including government databases, weather stations, and market reports.
- Ensure data quality and consistency for accurate analysis.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including underwriters, product managers, and IT professionals, to align data analysis with business objectives.
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Regulatory Compliance: Support compliance efforts by ensuring data analysis and actuarial practices meet industry and regulatory standards
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
- Data Collection: Ensure timely and accurate collection of diverse datasets to support actuarial models.
- Data Processing: Clean, transform, and organize data efficiently for accurate analysis and price modelling.
- Reports and Analysis of Products: Deliver timely, insightful reports on product performance to guide decision-making.
- B/S Contribution: Optimize pricing and risk management to improve financial stability and profitability.
- Growth in Product Portfolio and Coverage: Develop new products and expand coverage to drive market growth and revenue.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in data analysis, preferably in insurance or agriculture-related industries.
- Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with actuarial principles and tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, Prophet).
- Knowledge of agriculture, climate science, or geospatial analysis is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
