As part of our expansion, we are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team in Machakos.

Job Purpose:
The Pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications by preparing, dispensing, and reviewing prescriptions, providing patient education, and maintaining compliance with legal, ethical, and hospital standards. This role requires collaboration with healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans and contribute to the overall quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, dispense, and review prescriptions to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure the availability of essential medicines and prevent stockouts.
  • Maintain accurate records of all medications dispensed, including controlled substances.
  • Provide guidance to patients and healthcare professionals on the safe and effective use of medications.
  • Assess patient history to identify and prevent adverse drug interactions.
  • Educate patients on dosage, side effects, and potential interactions of prescribed medications.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulations, and national healthcare guidelines.
  • Participate in drug safety programs and report adverse drug reactions as required.
  • Stay updated on new drugs, treatment protocols, and advancements in pharmacy practice.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize treatment plans.
  • Conduct training sessions for hospital staff on medication safety, best practices, and updates in pharmacology.
  • Participate in hospital-wide quality improvement programs to enhance patient care and safety.

Qualifications:

  • Valid pharmacy license and registration with the relevant regulatory authority.
  • Proven experience as a pharmacist in a hospital or healthcare setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (BPharm or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
