Description

We are looking for a proactive and results-driven Trade Developer (Van Seller) to join our dynamic sales team in Meru. This role involves direct selling from a van, engaging retail outlets, and playing a key role in expanding market penetration and product visibility within the assigned territory.

The ideal candidate is passionate about sales, has strong customer relationship skills, and thrives in a fast-paced FMCG environment. The Trade Developer will be based at the distributor’s outlet and will support the distributor by increasing product availability, visibility, and offtake.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive a sales van daily to visit retail outlets and sell products within the assigned route/territory.
  • Meet and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets through effective route planning and customer engagement.
  • Build strong relationships with retailers to promote customer loyalty and increase repeat purchases.
  • Merchandise products effectively at the point of sale to improve visibility and appeal.
  • Gather and report on market intelligence, competitor activities, and customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with sales promoters (Stomers) to align on stock levels, route planning, and targets.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing, secure cash collection (where applicable), and timely reconciliation of sales.
  • Maintain proper inventory levels in the van to avoid stockouts or product expiries.
  • Educate retailers on product features, pricing, and ongoing promotions.
  • Ensure the sales van is maintained in good condition and driven in compliance with road safety regulations.

Key Requirements

  • Certificate or Diploma in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in van selling, direct sales, or FMCG distribution.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (mandatory).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work with minimal supervision.
