Job Summary
APaD Kenya is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Human Resources Officer to support its human resource and administrative functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing HR policies, supporting staff development, managing recruitment processes, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and contributing to a positive and ethical working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage recruitment processes including job postings, shortlisting, interviews, reference checks, and onboarding
- Track and support performance management and staff evaluation processes
- Identify training and capacity-building needs and organize relevant development initiatives
- Maintain up-to-date employee records including contracts, attendance, leave, and payroll data
- Ensure compliance with Kenyan labor laws and internal HR policies
- Provide support and advice on employee relations issues, including grievances and disciplinary matters
- Promote staff well-being and team cohesion through wellness and team-building activities
- Prepare and submit HR reports for internal management and external compliance or audits
- Support the implementation of workplace health and safety practices
- Promote APaD’s values of equity, teamwork, and professionalism
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field
- Membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is an added advantage
- Minimum of 2–3 years' experience in a human resources role, preferably in the NGO or development sector
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan labor laws and HR best practices
- Experience with recruitment, employee relations, and performance management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with HR and payroll systems
