Description
The Boma Hotel is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Barista to join our team, dedicated to delivering high-quality coffee and tea beverages and exceptional guest service. The Barista will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of beverages, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and providing guests with a memorable coffee experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about coffee, attentive to detail, and committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities:
Beverage Preparation:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of coffee and tea beverages, including espresso, cappuccino, latte, and specialty drinks, following established recipes and guest preferences.
- Ensure consistent quality, presentation, and taste in all beverages served.
- Operate, clean, and maintain coffee-making equipment, including espresso machines and grinders.
Guest Interaction and Service:
- Greet and interact with guests in a warm, friendly manner, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Take guest orders, provide recommendations, and handle special requests with professionalism.
- Ensure all guest inquiries and feedback are handled promptly and efficiently, aiming for complete guest satisfaction.
Workspace Cleanliness and Organization:
- Maintain a clean and organized coffee station, keeping it stocked with necessary supplies throughout the day.
- Follow hygiene and safety standards for food and beverage preparation and workstation cleanliness.
- Regularly clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment to meet health and safety regulations.
Inventory and Stock Management:
- Monitor stock levels for coffee, milk, syrups, and other ingredients, and restock as needed.
- Assist in maintaining inventory control and inform management of any low stock items.
- Minimize waste by accurately measuring ingredients and maintaining portion control.
Cash Handling and Reporting:
- Process guest bills accurately, handling cash or credit transactions according to hotel procedures.
- Ensure all sales are correctly recorded, and report any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Balance the cash register and complete necessary reports at the end of each shift.
Product Knowledge and Menu Promotion:
- Stay informed about the coffee menu, including seasonal specials and new items, and promote these to guests.
- Educate guests on different coffee options, origins, and brewing methods, enhancing their coffee experience.
- Participate in training sessions to improve coffee knowledge, skills, and service techniques.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth service and assist in peak hours when needed.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff to ensure guest orders are fulfilled efficiently.
- Support colleagues in maintaining a positive work environment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Certificate in Food and Beverage, Hospitality, or related field preferred.
- Prior experience as a Barista in a high-quality café, hotel, or restaurant setting.
- Excellent knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, espresso machine operation, and drink presentation.
- Strong customer service skills, with a positive and engaging personality.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash handling skills.
