Description
The Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the farm, ensuring that agricultural activities are carried out efficiently, sustainably, and profitably. The role involves managing all aspects of crop production and/or livestock management, ensuring high productivity while maintaining high standards of animal welfare and environmental care.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the care and management of livestock, ensuring high standards of animal welfare.
- Ensure high standards of milk quality and hygiene.
- Manage the reproductive performance of the herd, including calving and breeding programs.
- Monitor crop health and manage pest control measures.
- Implement modern farming techniques and technologies to increase efficiency and yield.
- Manage the purchase of farm supplies, including seeds, fertilizers, and equipment.
- Assign tasks and monitor the performance of farm employees and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Prepare and present regular reports on farm operations and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
- Implement sustainable farming practices to minimize environmental impact.
- Implement and oversee efficient use of water, fuel, and other resources.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Animal Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in farm management, with a track record of successful farm operations.
- Strong knowledge of agricultural production, farm equipment, and modern farming techniques.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Financial management skills, including budgeting and cost control.
- Ability to work long hours, including weekends and holidays, especially during peak seasons.
- Proficiency in farm management software and other relevant tools is a plus.
