Are you a skilled and detail-oriented accounting professional looking to grow your career in a dynamic manufacturing environment? We are seeking an Accountant Assistant to join our team at our Mavoko Quarry.

About the Role:
The Accountant Assistant will work closely with the Plant Accountant to manage all financial aspects of the manufacturing plant, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. This role is critical to supporting the efficient operation of the finance department.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
    • Reconcile daily transactions and ensure proper documentation.
  2. Accounts Payable and Receivable:

    • Process supplier invoices and manage customer invoicing.
    • Reconcile accounts to ensure accurate records.
  3. Cash and Bank Management:

    • Prepare and update cashbooks.
    • Conduct bank reconciliations and monitor petty cash usage.
  4. Inventory Management:

    • Collaborate with the production team to maintain accurate inventory records.
    • Assist in stock takes and inventory reconciliation.
  5. Financial Reporting:

    • Support the preparation of financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow analysis.
  6. Compliance and Auditing:

    • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Support audits and maintain proper documentation.
  7. Budgeting and Cost Management:

    • Assist in preparing budgets.
    • Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  8. General Support:

    • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
    • Support other departments and handle additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least CPA Part II or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing setup.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity and ability to manage confidential information.
