Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and persistent Accounts Collection Manager to join our Nairobi office. The ideal candidate is a skilled negotiator who excels at skip tracing with minimal information (e.g., National ID only). This role requires a proactive approach to contacting debtors, managing field visits, and enforcing payment timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Debtor Contact & Recovery: Initiate outbound calls to debtors and their referees to secure payments and obtain new leads on customer or collateral locations.

  • Skip Tracing: Utilize internet databases, phone tools, and public records to locate customers with minimal identifying information (e.g., National ID).

  • Field Coordination: Plan and execute field visits when necessary to verify addresses and contact hard-to-reach debtors.

  • Legal Documentation: Prepare and send formal demand letters to debtors while ensuring compliance with relevant debt collection legislations.

  • Reporting: Regularly communicate with management to provide detailed updates on account statuses, collection progress, and recommend strategic changes when needed.

  • Negotiation: Maintain frequent, professional verbal contact with debtors, references, relatives, and associates to ensure payments are made without further delay.

  • Time Management: Strictly adhere to recovery timelines and ensure all collection activities are documented efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Experience: Past debt collection experience is a definite added advantage.

  • Skills:

    • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

    • Proven ability to skip trace successfully with minimal data.

    • Good organizational and time management skills (ability to multi-task efficiently).

    • Professionalism and business savvy, even under pressure.

    • Knowledge of debt collection legislation (added advantage).
