Description
The Assistant Accountant – Receivables will be responsible for managing the verification, reconciliation and recording of sales against funds received across various payment channels, including cash, M-Pesa and bank cards. The role ensures that funds collected are properly received and cleared in the company bank accounts and that the correct commissions are accounted for.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile all daily cash-up reports on a T+1 basis before 12:00 noon.
- Perform daily reconciliation of cash and bank accounts.
- Transfer funds from Undeposited Funds accounts to the correct control and bank accounts.
- Ensure relevant control accounts are reconciled and cleared at the end of each day.
- Prepare weekly reconciliation reports for the Finance Manager and submit monthly reports by the required deadlines.
- Process approved store credit notes and maintain all supporting documentation.
- Prepare and submit monthly credit note reports to the Finance Manager.
- Reconcile all cash books at month-end and ensure completion of the End Month Cash Procedure Form.
- Account for and report on the purchase, redemption and recording of vouchers.
- Maintain properly labelled, identifiable and chronological files for reports and supporting documents.
- Maintain assigned daily ledgers and ensure accurate and timely updates.
- Automate AR1 processes and reports where applicable.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Finance Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- CPA (K) or CIMA qualification.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Strong experience in accounts receivable, reconciliations and financial reporting.
