Job Summary:

The Assistant Cashier will be responsible for processing customer payments efficiently and accurately while delivering a high standard of customer service. The role also includes providing information to customers, ensuring a pleasant shopping experience, and supporting front-office operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process all forms of customer payments including cash, debit/credit cards, mobile money (e.g., M-Pesa), and other acceptable modes.
  • Verify and reconcile daily transactions and ensure accurate cash handling and proper balancing of tills.
  • Maintain proper records of all transactions and submit daily sales reports to the Finance Department.
  • Warmly welcome and attend to walk-in customers, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Provide product information and support customer queries related to prices, availability, and promotions.
  • Ensure the cashiering area is neat, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies at all times.
  • Report any discrepancies or suspicious transactions immediately to the supervisor.
  • Support general administrative and front-desk duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • KCSE Certificate; a diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is an added advantage.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience in a cashier or customer service role, preferably in a retail, pharmacy, or wholesale environment.
  • Proficiency in using POS systems and basic computer applications (Excel, Word).
  • Familiarity with mobile payment platforms and digital transactions.
