Collections & Recovery Officers

Initially operating as Mwananchi Microlink Ltd from April 15, 2010, the company rebranded to Mwananchi Credit Limited on January 10, 2012. We specialize in providing financial solutions, with a strong focus on microfinance and credit services.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Collection & Recovery Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing delinquent accounts, implementing recovery strategies, and ensuring compliance with legal and company policies. The role requires strong negotiation skills, persistence, and a results-driven approach to minimize credit losses.

Key Responsibilities

• Contact customers with overdue accounts via phone, email, and field visits to negotiate repayment plans.
• Monitor and follow up on delinquent accounts to ensure timely repayments.
• Maintain accurate records of collection activities and customer interactions in the ERP system.
• Collaborate with legal and credit teams to escalate cases where necessary.
• Provide regular reports on recovery progress and portfolio performance.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies in all collection activities.
• Recommend write-offs or legal action for non-recoverable debts as per company guidelines.
• Educate customers on loan terms, consequences of default, and available repayment options.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Debt Collection, or a related field.
• 1-2 years of experience in debt collection, preferably in microfinance or financial services.
• Knowledge of Kenyan legal requirements related to credit collections and recovery.
• Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Smart Collect is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet collection targets.
