Description

We are looking for an experienced Contract Accounting Administrator to oversee the end-to-end financial contract lifecycle for our operations in Nairobi. This role is critical in ensuring that all commercial contracts are accurately set up, monitored, and managed from a financial and compliance perspective. You will work closely with project leads, clients, suppliers, and legal counsel to ensure seamless contract execution, revenue recognition, and financial risk mitigation.


Key Responsibilities

End-to-End Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Manage contract setup, maintain master commercial registers, and ensure proper setup in ERP accounting systems.

  • Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts from initiation through to closure.

Amendments & Variations

  • Process scope expansions, price indexations, contract renewals, and formal change orders alongside project leads.

  • Ensure all variations are accurately documented and reflected in financial systems.

Financial Risk & Compliance

  • Align agreements with revenue recognition standards (ASC 606/IFRS 15).

  • Manage tax implications and enforce audit-ready compliance across all contracts.

  • Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with commercial agreements.

Negotiations & Commercial Alignment

  • Review payment terms, credit limits, and billing schedules with clients, suppliers, and legal counsel prior to signing.

  • Provide financial expertise during contract negotiations to protect the company's interests.

Milestone & Performance Tracking

  • Track deliverable schedules and manage retainages and penalties.

  • Authorize billing milestones and ensure timely invoicing.

  • Resolve vendor and client financial disputes professionally and efficiently.


Requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA-K or ACCA certification is preferred.

  • Proven track record managing commercial contracts, variations, and complex billing structures.

  • Strong negotiation capabilities and a deep understanding of commercial legal and financial terms.

  •  Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Sage, QuickBooks, or Oracle) and Advanced Excel.

  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
