Job Summary
APaD Kenya is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support the finance and administration team in ensuring effective financial management and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily financial transactions, record-keeping, reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting across the organization’s programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payments, staff advances, and reimbursements in accordance with APaD’s financial procedures
- Prepare payment vouchers, receipts, and maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Maintain cash and bank books, and assist in monthly bank reconciliations
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of all finance-related documents
- Assist in budget tracking and monitoring of expenditure against project budgets
- Verify accuracy of financial transactions and support in correcting errors when identified
- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information
- Support procurement and logistics teams with payment processing and supplier follow-up
- Ensure compliance with donor financial regulations and APaD’s financial policies
Qualifications and Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably in an NGO or development setting
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting standards
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and financial tasks
