Finance Manager

Reporting to the General Manager (GM), the Finance Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership of the Finance function by ensuring the financial health of the business, managing the unique challenges of perishable inventory, seasonal demand fluctuations, and complex logistics. He or she will oversee financial planning, cost accounting, and day-to-day accounting operations to drive profitability and statutory compliance within an agricultural environment.

Principal Accountabilities

• Set up systems to manage all farms' financial transactions, including bank facilities management, capital expenditure control and reporting, and equity transactions.

• Ensure the preparation of medium-term and long-term financial plans, including revenues, spending, cash flow, and balance sheet forecasts.

• Facilitate the annual budgeting process and performance monitoring, including systems to provide timely progress reports to management.

• In liaison with the company tax advisors, review and monitor organizational tax compliance, and examine and make recommendations from both a tax and operational perspective.

• Build capacity of existing company staff to report all expenditures and income, prepare financial reports, monitor expenses, prepare budgets, and track expenditures to budgets.

The Person – Qualifications and Experience

• Education: A graduate in Commerce or an MBA (Accounting option).
• Experience: Seven (7) years of experience, at a minimum, in accounting and finance, with a demonstrated track record of leadership in financial analysis and financial management roles.
• Industry Experience: Experience in financial management in for-profit business operations, particularly in agriculture in general and Kenya specifically.
• Capital Projects: Previous experience in the financial monitoring of capital projects.
• Tax and Compliance: A close understanding of Kenya tax law and statutory reporting requirements.
• Core Competencies: Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, application of strong financial rigor, discretion, and high integrity are imperative.
