Head of Treasury

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Treasury to lead and scale the treasury function for a fast-growing financial infrastructure provider based in Nairobi. This is a high-impact leadership role suited for a treasury professional with deep expertise in fintech, foreign exchange operations, and cross-border payment ecosystems.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing treasury architecture, optimizing liquidity management, and ensuring seamless settlement operations across multiple markets and currencies.

Role Overview

The Head of Treasury will own the end-to-end treasury function, including liquidity management, FX execution, settlement operations, treasury controls, and banking partnerships across a multi-country payments ecosystem. The role requires a highly analytical leader capable of building scalable treasury systems and supporting rapid organizational growth across emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute the organization’s overall treasury strategy aligned with business growth objectives.
• Optimize capital allocation and maintain efficient liquidity management across multiple markets and currencies.
• Manage real-time liquidity positioning across diverse payment rails and banking partners.
• Oversee cross-border settlement flows and domestic payment disbursements.
• Lead foreign exchange (FX) strategy, including OTC execution, hedging considerations, and pricing optimization.
• Manage and strengthen relationships with banks, liquidity providers, and financial partners.
• Negotiate treasury and FX partnerships to improve operational efficiency and financial performance.
• Build, scale, and lead the treasury function, including systems, controls, policies, and reporting frameworks.
• Develop treasury automation initiatives and enhance operational scalability through technology-driven solutions.
• Monitor treasury risk exposure and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Operations, Product, and Compliance teams to support business expansion.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CFA, or ACT will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 7–12+ years of experience in Treasury, FX, Banking Operations, or Financial Markets.
• Strong experience within Fintech, Payments, Banking, or Financial Infrastructure environments.
• Demonstrated expertise in multi-currency liquidity management and cross-border payment systems.
• Proven experience managing FX operations, including OTC transactions and settlement structures.
• Strong understanding of treasury controls, financial risk management, and payment operations.
• Experience working across African or emerging markets is strongly preferred.
• Strong systems-thinking mindset with experience driving automation and operational efficiency.
