Retail Accountant

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join our dynamic team at a retail supermarket in Mombasa. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within a retail or supermarket setting and demonstrate proficiency in managing financial records, statutory compliance, and payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks
• Perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts to ensure financial accuracy
• Prepare and process monthly payroll, including handling statutory deductions (NHIF, NSSF, PAYE)
• Accurately file VAT and Withholding VAT (WHT VAT) returns within statutory timelines
• Support general financial reporting and assist in preparing documentation for audits
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax regulations and internal accounting policies

Requirements:

• Proven work experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in a retail or supermarket environment
• Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance (VAT, WHT, PAYE)
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines
• Based in Mombasa or willing to relocate
