SENIOR ASSESSOR AND VALUER — MOMBASA

You already know your way around a damaged vehicle. You can tell a genuine repair from a cut-and-join, spot a chassis that has been pulled back into alignment, and read an engine's real condition rather than the one the owner describes. Now you want a region of your own.

Quanta Three Sixty is appointing its first in-house Senior Assessor and Valuer for Mombasa and the wider Coast. For the past year the region has been covered by a freelance valuer. Client demand has outgrown that arrangement. From day one, the technical reputation of Quanta360 on the Coast rests with one person, and that person is you.

What You Will Be Accountable For

Your final product is straightforward and hard to fake: high-quality, indisputable valuation and assessment reports, delivered within SLA, every time.

Your reports are not internal paperwork. They settle financial and legal claims. Insurers, financiers and intermediaries act on your figures, and they will challenge them when it suits them. A report that cannot survive that scrutiny is a report that has failed, regardless of how quickly it was submitted.

The Work

• Conduct end-to-end physical inspections across Mombasa and the wider Coast — market value, forced sale value and mechanical condition
• Assess post-accident damage, determining repair methods and verifying the cost-effectiveness of parts and labour
• Validate engine and chassis numbers against registration documents to prevent fraud, and ensure every report meets IRA and AKI compliance standards
• Use OBD tools and digital platforms to produce finance and mechanical valuation reports, and drive client adoption of digital Vehicle Condition Reports and accident notification (FNOL)
• Maintain command of dealer pricing, import logistics and KRA landing costs across saloons, SUVs and heavy commercials — and know what separates a locally registered Unit Zero from an import
• Build and hold the relationships that make the territory work: brokers, underwriters, fleet managers and the leading garages on the Coast

You will report to the Operations Manager.

Where It Will Be Hard

Turnaround pressure is constant, and it does not ease because the work is technically difficult. You will be asked to defend your figures by people with a financial interest in a different number, and you will need to hold your position on evidence rather than volume.

You will work largely alone, in the field, at a distance from head office. Nobody will structure your week for you. Expect extensive travel across the region — mostly day trips, with occasional two- to three-day trips to outlying coastal towns such as Lamu.

This role also carries real exposure to fraud. Integrity here is not a value on a wall; it is the product. Background checks and references from previous employers in the automotive and insurance industry will be conducted stringently.

What You Bring

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Automotive Option) or a closely related technical field
• Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on physical motor assessment and valuation experience within an established firm or insurance company, including active dealings with claims departments, loss adjusters and repair garages
• Deep knowledge of motor vehicle mechanics, current Kenyan market pricing and fraud detection
• Proficiency in automated valuation software, MS Office and digital reporting tools
• Fluent written and spoken English and Kiswahili, a clean valid Class BCE licence, and sound physical condition for field work

An Advantage

• COP (Certificate of Proficiency) in Insurance, or MAAK affiliation
• Existing relationships with brokers, underwriters, fleet managers and garage owners on the Coast
• Experience establishing a new territory or launching a branch
• Additional languages spoken widely on the Coast, and the ability to ride a motorcycle for rapid cross-town assessments

If your background is purely administrative or non-technical sales, this is not your role.
