Production & Workshop Lead

Through innovative solutions such as EcoTops, recycled glass tiles, bespoke furniture, and custom fabrication, we are redefining sustainable design in Kenya.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a proactive and hands-on Production & Workshop Lead to oversee our workshop operations, drive production excellence, and ensure every project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, leading teams, improving systems, and taking ownership of production from planning through installation.

Position Summary

The Production & Workshop Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all workshop operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to ECANDI's quality standards.

The role combines technical expertise, people management, production planning, quality assurance, and customer-facing responsibilities. The successful candidate will also support the sales process through site visits, measurements, technical consultations, and preparation of production quotations.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

• Lead and oversee day-to-day workshop operations.

• Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely completion of projects.

• Coordinate fabrication, furniture production, EcoTop manufacturing, and installation activities.

• Allocate work effectively across the production team.

• Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Project Management

• Plan projects from confirmation through installation.

• Conduct site visits and take accurate measurements.

• Prepare technical quotations and production estimates.

• Coordinate project timelines and communicate progress with customers and internal teams.

• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within agreed budgets.

Team Leadership

• Supervise, mentor, and support workshop staff.

• Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.

• Monitor performance and provide coaching where necessary.

• Foster a positive, safe, and productive working environment.

Quality Assurance

• Maintain high standards across all ECANDI products.

• Conduct quality inspections throughout production.

• Ensure installations meet customer expectations.

• Resolve production issues promptly and effectively.

Workshop Management

• Ensure machinery and equipment are properly maintained.

• Enforce workshop safety procedures and best practices.

• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate procurement requirements.

• Maintain an organised, clean, and efficient workshop.

Sustainability

• Champion ECANDI's commitment to circular manufacturing.

• Reduce production waste and improve material efficiency.

• Promote responsible sourcing and recycling practices.

• Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance.

Customer Support

• Attend client meetings where technical expertise is required.

• Conduct site assessments and provide technical recommendations.

• Support the Customer Experience Associate during project consultations.

• Build confidence with customers through professionalism and technical knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone who is practical, resourceful, and passionate about building great products.

• Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Building Technology, Manufacturing, Project Management, Construction, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 3 years experience in workshop supervision, production management, manufacturing, furniture production, fabrication, interior fit-outs, construction, or a similar production environment.

Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to prepare project costings, bills of quantities, technical quotations, and production estimates.

• Experience planning production schedules and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Experience with CAD, SketchUp, project management software, or ERP systems is an added advantage.
