As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Health and Safety Manager to strengthen our compliance, risk management, and integrated safety systems.

Job Summary:

The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs. The role also involves ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, industry standards, and ISO Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 22000). The ideal candidate will provide leadership and guidance across the organization to ensure a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Lead the implementation and management of ISO Integrated Management Systems:
    • ISO 9001: Quality Management

    • ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety

    • ISO 22000: Food Safety Management (where applicable)

  • Conduct regular HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all operational areas.
  • Ensure statutory and regulatory compliance with occupational health and safety laws in Kenya and the wider East and Central African region.
  • Provide HSE training, awareness programs, and incident response preparedness for staff.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Liaise with insurers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters.
  • Collaborate with operations, logistics, HR, and fleet departments to integrate safety into all functions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
  • Maintain accurate HSE documentation and prepare detailed reports for management review.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Age: Must be 35 years and above.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience in a similar role, preferably in the transport and logistics industry.
  • Certifications: Demonstrable knowledge and experience in implementing ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 22000 standards.
  • Additional Advantage: Knowledge in insurance and risk assessment processes will be an added advantage.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety laws and best practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of Integrated Management Systems.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and training facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical, report writing, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Ability to work across departments and locations with minimal supervision.
