Tranquil Med Centre is a private Level 4 mental health institution located in the heart of Karen, Nairobi,  dedicated to promoting society’s mental well-being by providing quality, safe, dignified, accessible, and  affordable research-based mental healthcare. We offer individualized treatment approaches through a  wide array of therapy services, including Psychotherapy, Addiction Support, Marriage Therapy, Group  Therapy, Family Therapy, Rehabilitation, and Wellness Talks in organizations, institutions, and schools. 

As part of our expansion, Tranquil Med Centre is opening a new Level 4 Psychiatric and Mental Health  Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in Karen. We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technologist to join our dynamic team. 

Role Summary 

The Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for conducting routine and specialized diagnostic tests  to support clinical decision-making, ensuring quality and accuracy in laboratory operations. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collect, prepare, and analyze samples (blood, urine, etc.) for diagnostic testing.
  • Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results. 
  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment. 
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols.
  • Verify and validate test results before releasing them to clinicians. 
  • Maintain inventory of reagents, consumables, and supplies. 
  • Participate in internal quality control and proficiency testing programs. 
  • Support clinical staff with relevant laboratory data for patient care. 

Requirements 

  • A Diploma or Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
  • Registration and valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and  Technologists Board (KMLTTB). 
  • At least 2 years of experience in a hospital or busy laboratory setting. 
  • Familiarity with mental health-related lab testing is an added advantage. 
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills. 
  • Good communication and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
