Job Summary

The Head Cook will oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring high-quality food preparation and presentation in line with the hotel’s standards. The ideal candidate will lead a team of cooks, maintain hygiene and safety standards, and contribute to menu development while managing kitchen inventory and cost controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all kitchen activities, ensuring timely and quality food service.
• Prepare meals in accordance with set recipes and presentation standards.
• Develop and update menus in collaboration with the Executive Chef and management.
• Train, schedule, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety in compliance with health regulations.
• Monitor inventory levels, place orders, and control food costs to minimize waste.
• Handle customer feedback related to food quality and resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of food production, stock, and staff attendance.

Minimum Requirements

• KCSE grade C (plain) or equivalent.
• Diploma in Hospitality Management and Food Production from a recognized institution.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel kitchen, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in food safety standards and kitchen operations.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic hotel environment.
