The Guest Houses (Catering and Hospitality) Internship provides a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in catering, hospitality, and guest relations within a conservation-focused environment. Interns will support the Guest Houses team in delivering exceptional service to visitors, contributing to the overall guest experience at Lewa.
Job Description: Guest Houses (Catering and Hospitality) Intern
Organization: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Lewa)
Location: Isiolo, Kenya
Duration: 3 months (with the possibility of extension based on performance)
Application Period: Open for 2025
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in meal preparation and presentation, ensuring high standards of quality and hygiene.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the guest houses, including housekeeping and room preparation.
- Participate in inventory management for kitchen supplies, linens, and other guest amenities.
- Help in welcoming guests, responding to inquiries, and addressing their needs to ensure a comfortable stay.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of guest house facilities.
- Collaborate with the hospitality team to create memorable dining and lodging experiences.
- Contribute to planning and organizing events, meetings, or special occasions hosted at the guest houses.
- Provide administrative support, including maintaining records and preparing reports related to hospitality operations.
- Uphold Lewa’s values and mission by promoting eco-friendly and sustainable practices in all hospitality services.
Eligibility Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Hospitality Management, Catering, Tourism, or a related field.
- Recent graduate (2023–2024) with a passion for hospitality and customer service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards is an added advantage.
- Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
