Accountant at Equity Afia
Description
Equity Afia, a fast-growing network of outpatient medical centers under the Equity Group Foundation, is seeking a qualified and dedicated Accountant to join its Nairobi Clinics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting clinic operations through timely reporting, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate books of accounts for the clinic (daily postings, reconciliations, etc.)
- Prepare financial reports, including monthly management accounts and statutory returns
- Monitor clinic budgets and expenditures to ensure cost efficiency
- Process and manage accounts payable and receivable
- Handle petty cash and banking operations
- Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure timely filing of tax returns (PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, VAT, etc.)
- Support audits and implement audit recommendations
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and healthcare financial regulations
- Collaborate with the clinical and administrative teams to ensure financial sustainability
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA Part Two is mandatory (CPA Part III or CPA-K is an added advantage)
- At least two (2) years of relevant working experience in a busy accounting or finance environment
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Odoo)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with clinical and administrative staff
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information
- A valid Certificate of Good Conduct
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
