Chef (Specializing in Indian Cuisine)

Our Client is seeking a skilled and passionate Chef with expertise in Indian cuisine to join their team in Juja, Nairobi. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in preparing a wide variety of Indian dishes, both traditional and contemporary, and will ensure high-quality food preparation, presentation, and service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a wide range of authentic Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, breads, and street food.
• Develop and update menus in collaboration with management, introducing innovative Indian dishes.
• Maintain the highest standards of hygiene, health, and safety in the kitchen.
• Manage kitchen inventory, order ingredients, and ensure proper storage and waste management.
• Supervise kitchen staff and train junior cooks in Indian culinary techniques.
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portioning of food.
• Adapt recipes to accommodate dietary restrictions or customer preferences.
• Monitor food costs and minimize waste.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times.
• Stay updated on culinary trends and regional Indian cooking styles.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine (minimum 3 years preferred).
• Formal culinary training is an added advantage.
• Excellent knowledge of various Indian spices, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Food handling certification is an added plus.
• High level of creativity and passion for food.

Work Hours:

• 6 days a week (flexible hours depending on business needs)
• Ability to work weekends and holidays as required.
