Cost Accountant

Our client, a well-established restaurant in Karen, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in analyzing and controlling costs, optimizing operations, and providing actionable insights to drive financial efficiency in the restaurant’s operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate cost accounting systems and reports to monitor food, beverage, and operational costs.
• Conduct regular cost analysis for menu items, ensuring profitability and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor inventory levels, review variance reports, and recommend solutions to reduce wastage or overstocking.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports and present findings to management.
• Collaborate with purchasing and operations teams to analyze supplier costs and negotiate favorable terms.
• Establish and maintain standard cost structures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices.
• Evaluate and improve internal controls to ensure compliance with financial and operational policies.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing detailed cost information and analysis.
• Analyze labor costs and make recommendations to optimize workforce efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all accounting regulations and standards applicable to the hospitality industry.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience: At least 3 years of proven experience as a Cost Accountant, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar systems).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and financial modeling.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and cost control systems.
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accuracy in financial records.
