The company imports, exports, and distributes petroleum products, including fuels, LPG, lubricants, and bitumen, through its network of service stations under the Delta brand. Galana Energies also has a presence in Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda through Delta Petroleum affiliates.
About the role
The Fleet and Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for effective management of transporters, fleet maintenance, distribution and delivery activities to enhance operational efficiency, safety and compliance with government regulations.
Key duties will include: -
- Develop strategic initiatives to ensure provision of efficient transport services.
- Oversee the recruitment, vetting and onboarding of transporters and drivers.
- Manage and monitor the performance of a large fleet of contracted petroleum transporters and company distribution vehicles.
- Coordinate daily loading and delivery of petroleum products to various customer sites in the country.
- Ensure adherence to compliance requirements by the vehicles both per the law and petroleum industry standards.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers.
- Ensure proper repair and maintenance of all company vehicles.
- Maintain the fleet maintenance database for analysis and monitoring of all maintenance, parts inventory and associated fuel costs.
- Oversee effective scheduling, tracking and routing of transportation vehicles and supervision of drivers.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections of the fleet and driver practices to monitor compliance to required standards.
- Coordinate the driver toolbox training sessions and induction training for new drivers to ensure all drivers are current in their training.
- Coordinate the Safe to Load Inspections to ensure accurate inspections and reporting of the same and follow up on the closure of detected defects.
Requirements:-
- A Bachelor's degree in Automotive Engineering, Logistics or other related fields.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in managing large fleets.
- Strong attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
- Well-developed negotiation skills.
- Good organizing and coordinating skills.
