General Manager

We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership for an expanding Microfinance Institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, strengthening portfolio quality, improving operational performance and providing leadership across the institution's branch network.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic and operational leadership for the institution.
• Lead and oversee branch and regional operations to achieve business objectives.
• Develop and implement strategies to drive sustainable commercial growth.
• Monitor loan portfolio performance, quality and profitability.
• Strengthen credit risk management, collections and recovery processes.
• Develop strategies to improve customer acquisition, retention and revenue growth.
• Monitor branch performance and ensure achievement of operational and financial targets.
• Lead, mentor and develop regional and branch management teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry standards.
• Analyze business performance and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior management and the Board.
• Identify operational, financial and credit risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Drive process improvements and operational efficiency across the institution.
• Support the institution's strategic growth and expansion initiatives.

Requirements

• Minimum 8–10 years' experience in microfinance, banking, lending or credit-focused financial services.
• At least 4 years' experience in a senior regional, branch or operations leadership role.
• Strong experience in credit risk management, collections and portfolio management.
• Proven experience in driving commercial growth and branch network performance.
• Strong understanding of financial services operations and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.
• Strong financial, analytical and strategic planning capabilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel nationwide as required.
• Experience leading or supporting an institution through a transition from microfinance to commercial banking is a major advantage.
