Hair Trainer

To deliver structured, practical and theory-based hair training, equipping students with the technical skills, professional standards and practical experience required for salon practice, assessments and industry engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver structured theory and practical hairdressing lessons.
• Demonstrate professional hairstyling, setting, braiding, weaving, wig making and extensions.
• Train students in barbering, haircutting and men’s grooming.
• Teach hair science, scalp care, product use, hygiene and safe salon practices.
• Break down technical skills into clear and practical learning steps.
• Assess students’ practical skills and provide constructive feedback.
• Maintain strong classroom engagement and professional discipline.
• Prepare students for practical assessments and professional salon environments.
• Support masterclasses, demonstrations, activations and events.
• Prepare and administer internal and external theory and practical assessments.
• Mark, record and submit assessments accurately and on time.
• Maintain accurate student progress records, portfolios and examination evidence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant professional hairdressing/salon experience; 3–5+ years preferred.
• Strong all-round professional hairdressing and styling skills.
• Strong experience in braiding, weaving, wig making and hair extensions.
• Strong barbering and haircutting skills, including men’s grooming.
• Experience or exposure to TVET competency-based training will be an advantage.
• Familiarity with ICM/NITA assessments is an added advantage.
• Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Google digital tools.
• Passionate about training, student development and continuous professional improvement.
• Professional, reliable, organized and able to work effectively with students at different skill levels.
