Inventory Accountant
Description
Our client, a leading organization in retail Industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Inventory Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and overseeing inventory-related financial activities, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, and supporting the organization’s financial reporting and operational efficiency. This role requires strong accounting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking stock levels, movements, and valuations.
- Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
- Analyze inventory costs, including raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods, and report on variances.
- Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and production teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and reporting.
- Prepare and analyze inventory-related financial reports, including cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory turnover.
- Assist in the development and implementation of inventory control policies and procedures.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing inventory-related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Monitor and report on obsolete, slow-moving, or excess inventory and recommend corrective actions.
- Work closely with external auditors during inventory audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Utilize inventory management and accounting software to streamline processes and improve accuracy.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve inventory management and reduce costs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in inventory accounting, cost accounting, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of industry-specific inventory practices (e.g., retail, manufacturing, FMCG) is a plus.
