To support our mission, we are seeking a qualified and dedicated Medical Officer in Charge to lead our clinical team.
Job Summary:
The Medical Officer in Charge will oversee the hospital’s day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient healthcare services. This leadership role requires a seasoned medical professional with strong administrative capabilities and a passion for quality healthcare delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical leadership and supervise all medical staff within the hospital.
- Oversee patient care standards and ensure clinical protocols and procedures are followed.
- Coordinate daily clinical operations including ward rounds, outpatient services, and emergency response.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of clinical staff, offering guidance, training, and mentorship.
- Work closely with the hospital administration to manage resources, plan staffing, and improve service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with medical ethics, hospital policies, and statutory health regulations.
- Participate in strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital policy development.
- Facilitate collaboration with other departments for integrated patient care.
- Manage medical documentation and ensure proper record keeping and reporting.
- Lead clinical audits, morbidity and mortality reviews, and continuous professional development activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Registered and licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
- Minimum of 5 years’ post-internship experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in hospital administration or medical team leadership is an added advantage.
- Excellent diagnostic, clinical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
- Good understanding of healthcare systems, hospital operations, and medical regulatory requirements.
