Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical services. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation, dispensing, and management of medications while ensuring compliance with legal and hospital guidelines. This role is crucial in ensuring patients receive safe, timely, and effective medication therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately dispense prescribed medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Prepare and label medication doses, ensuring correct dosage, packaging, and instructions.
  • Receive, verify, and manage pharmaceutical inventory including ordering, stocking, and expiry monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and patient transactions.
  • Provide patients with information on medication use and possible side effects as guided by the pharmacist.
  • Ensure proper storage of drugs in accordance with regulatory standards.
  • Support in the preparation and compounding of eye-related formulations where applicable.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy work area.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, professional standards, and Ministry of Health regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
  • Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) and hold a valid practicing license.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a busy pharmacy setting, preferably in a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical products, stock management, and dispensing systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
