Pharmacy Technologist

Health Pact Hospital Isiolo seeks to employ a Pharmacy Technologist. The incumbent will be responsible for providing efficient, effective, quality clinical services to patients following established treatment protocols.

Responsibilities

• Receiving, verifying, billing, filling and dispensing drugs/medical supplies as ordered or prescribed by a qualified medical practitioner.
• Maintaining correct and accurate prescription records and management of inventory of medication and other pharmacy consumables and managing short expiry (comply with short expiry drug policy) to avoid stock-outs.
• Compounding packaging and labelling of extemporaneous preparations according to laid down guidelines for in and outpatient.
• Participating in the drug stocking in the pharmacy and drug stock taking.
• Scrutinizing patient treatment sheets and prescriptions for sustainability of prescribed drugs in relation to dosing, accuracy, drug interactions and route of administration
• Timely and accurate posting of dispensed drugs for billing purposes
• Participating in ward pharmacy services.
• Counselling patients appropriately to ensure adherence to drug therapy
• Conducting quality control checks on medications
• Maintaining a close working relationship with other healthcare professionals, nurses, doctors and consultants to ensure coordinated patient care towards provision of quality service
• Enforcing dangerous drug act regulations in the pharmacy as per the laid down guidelines by the pharmacy and poisons board
• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned

Qualifications

• Diploma in Pharmacy
• Registered and licensed by the PPB
• Strong commitment to care of patients and general customer service.
