Head Teacher – Senior & High School

Cornerstone Preparatory Academy is a Christ-centered educational institution committed to providing holistic, transformational education to Kenyan children. We are seeking an experienced, visionary, and results-oriented Head Teacher to lead our Senior and High School section, driving academic excellence and fostering a nurturing, disciplined learning environment.

Job Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic and seasoned educational leader to provide strong academic, administrative, and pastoral leadership for our Senior and High School. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of improving learner performance, implementing the curriculum effectively (both CBC and 8-4-4), and building a positive school culture rooted in Christian values. You will be responsible for ensuring the holistic development of every student and supporting staff to achieve their best.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic & Instructional Leadership

• Provide strategic and instructional leadership in alignment with the school's vision, mission, and Christian values.

• Lead the implementation of the curriculum, ensuring high-quality instruction, continuous assessment, and adherence to national standards.

• Drive sustained improvement in learner performance, including internal assessments and national examinations (KCPE and/or KCSE).

Academic Excellence & Curriculum Oversight

• Demonstrate and sustain improved academic performance through data-driven analysis, targeted interventions, and staff development.

• Oversee all academic planning, including timetabling, examination administration, and accurate academic reporting to parents and stakeholders.

• Ensure a smooth transition and integration of both CBC and 8-4-4 system requirements as applicable.

Staff Leadership & Development

• Supervise, mentor, appraise, and support teaching and non-teaching staff within the Senior and High School section.

• Foster a collaborative and professional staff culture focused on continuous improvement and student success.

Pastoral Care & Student Welfare

• Promote positive learner discipline, character development, and a safe, supportive school environment.

• Champion child safeguarding policies and ensure all staff are trained and vigilant in protecting students.

• Implement positive behavior management strategies that align with the school's Christian ethos.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

• Foster strong, transparent relationships with parents, guardians, staff, and the wider school community.

• Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress, school events, and academic matters.

School Operations & Resource Management

• Ensure the effective utilization, safety, and accountability of school resources, including facilities, teaching materials, and finances within the section.

• Oversee school planning and daily operations within the Senior and High School.

• Take full responsibility for the school in the absence of the School Principal, acting as the senior leader on site.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education (B.Ed) or equivalent from a recognized institution. A Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field is a distinct added advantage.

• Experience: Minimum of 8 years of teaching experience, with at least 5 years in a school leadership role (e.g., Head of Department, Deputy Head Teacher, or Head Teacher).

• Track Record: Proven track record of driving strong academic performance and leading school improvement initiatives.

• Certification: Valid Teaching Certificate and active registration with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

• Curriculum Knowledge: Strong, up-to-date knowledge of the Kenyan education system, including both the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and the 8-4-4 system assessment frameworks.
