Mathematics/Business Teacher
Description
Rose of Sharon Academy, a leading Cambridge curriculum institution in Nairobi, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mathematics/Business Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Mathematics and Business Studies to students preparing for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Mathematics and Business Studies in alignment with the Cambridge curriculum standards.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills among students.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback.
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain an orderly and stimulating classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Foster a culture of mutual respect, discipline, and inclusivity.
Curriculum Development
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and update lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching resources.
- Integrate technology and contemporary resources to enhance the teaching and learning experience.
Student Support and Mentorship
- Provide academic and pastoral support to help students excel in their studies and personal development.
- Offer additional support through remedial lessons, workshops, or one-on-one tutoring as needed.
Professional Development
- Stay abreast of developments in the Cambridge curriculum and educational best practices.
- Participate in professional development programs, training sessions, and departmental meetings.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of students’ attendance, grades, and overall performance.
- Contribute to school events, parent-teacher conferences, and extracurricular activities as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, Business Studies, or a related field.
- A teaching qualification recognized by Cambridge International (e.g., PGCE or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of experience teaching Mathematics and Business Studies in a Cambridge curriculum school.
- Proven expertise in preparing students for IGCSE and A-Level examinations.
- Proficiency in using ICT tools to support teaching and learning.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience in mentoring students for extracurricular activities such as business clubs or math competitions.
