The Stores and Procurement Internship at Lewa Wildlife Conservancy offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in inventory management and procurement processes. This role provides exposure to the critical functions of managing supplies and ensuring efficient procurement to support conservation initiatives.

Job Description: Stores and Procurement Intern
Organization: Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (Lewa)
Location: Isiolo, Kenya
Duration: 3 months (with the possibility of extension based on performance)
Application Period: Open for 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and recording incoming goods and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, ensuring proper documentation and storage.
  • Support the preparation of purchase orders and track procurement requests.
  • Assist in supplier evaluation, selection, and management to ensure timely delivery of quality goods.
  • Participate in periodic stock checks, reconciliations, and reporting on inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Help in managing procurement documentation, including invoices, contracts, and delivery notes.
  • Assist in monitoring and analyzing inventory usage to prevent overstocking or stockouts.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies for cost-effective procurement.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Stores and Procurement Manager.

Eligibility Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Recent graduate (2023–2024) seeking practical experience in stores and procurement management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and inventory management systems is an added advantage.
