Job Summary:
The Transport and Logistics Officer will be responsible for the effective planning, coordination, and execution of all transport and logistics activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role requires excellent organizational skills, experience in managing transportation fleets, and a solid understanding of supply chain processes, particularly in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor transportation and logistics operations to ensure timely deliveries.
- Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of delivery vehicles and drivers.
- Ensure compliance with transportation laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Track and report on the movement of goods using ERP and logistics systems.
- Maintain accurate records of transport operations including vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, and delivery documentation.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, warehouse teams, and drivers to resolve transportation issues.
- Monitor and manage transport costs, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct periodic reviews of routes and delivery schedules to optimize performance.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of delivery notes, invoices, and transport logs.
- Support in managing and maintaining the fleet, including servicing schedules and insurance renewals.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics or transport coordination, preferably within the manufacturing or FMCG industry.
- Working knowledge of ERP systems is required.
- Strong knowledge of transportation management, fleet operations, and inventory control.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
