Waiter/Waitress

To provide friendly and efficient food and beverage service to guests and ensure a pleasant dining experience.

Key Duties

• Welcome and seat guests politely.

• Present menus and take food and drink orders.

• Serve food and beverages on time.

• Check on guests and respond to their requests.

• Handle simple guest complaints and report serious issues to the supervisor.

• Prepare and clean tables before and after service.

• Keep the restaurant and service areas clean and organised.

• Use the POS system to record orders and process payments.

• Assist with buffet, banquets, and room service when required.

• Follow opening and closing procedures.

• Observe food safety, hygiene, and health and safety rules.

• Work well with the kitchen, bar, and other team members.

Qualifications and Skills

• Certificate or Diploma in Hospitality or Food & Beverage (preferred).
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage service.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Basic numeracy skills.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Experience

• 0–2 years’ experience in a hotel or restaurant.

• Entry-level candidates may be considered.

Working Conditions

• Long hours standing.

• Shift work, including nights and weekends.

• Must be based in or able to work in Kisumu.
