Assistant Transport Manager

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Assistant Transport Manager to support the transformation and day-to-day management of our transport operations. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in optimizing logistics performance, driving compliance, enhancing fleet efficiency, and ensuring timely deliveries across departments. This position demands a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to operational excellence, cost control, and regulatory adherence.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and execution of a structured 30/60/90-day transport operations plan aligned with company goals.
• Support the design and implementation of a functional transport team structure, including drivers, transport clerks, and workshop staff.
• Establish and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), transport policies, and performance reporting tools.
• Plan and zone delivery routes for efficiency, fuel optimization, and cost-effectiveness.
• Monitor delivery timelines and enforce SLAs based on customer tiers and priority levels.
• Track fleet utilization through ERP systems, fuel logs, and GPS monitoring to ensure high uptime and minimal operational disruptions.
• Ensure full compliance with relevant regulatory bodies including NTSA, OSHA, WIBA, KRA, and TLB.
• Support risk mitigation efforts by addressing fuel pilferage, route deviation, and driver misconduct.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma or Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 3–5 years of experience in transport or fleet management, preferably in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
• Solid understanding of route planning, vehicle maintenance, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
• Hands-on experience in managing drivers, vehicles, and logistics operations.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and fleet tracking technologies is an added advantage.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
