Financial Accountant
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving the financial operations of our network of schools. The ideal candidate will oversee critical functions such as financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Policy Implementation
- Execute and uphold the MGA Schools Finance Policy, ensuring all financial practices align with institutional goals and guidelines.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare accurate and timely financial and management reports, including monthly, quarterly, annual, and consolidated accounts for all MGA schools.
Accounts Receivable
- Oversee school fee collection processes, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and customer-friendly interactions.
Cashflow Management
- Manage cash flows and working capital effectively, ensuring accurate projections and reporting of actuals.
Accounts Payable
- Ensure efficient, well-documented payment processes for all school expenditures while maintaining transparency and compliance.
Credit Committee Coordination
- Plan and coordinate Credit Committee meetings, ensuring all action points are addressed and resolved promptly.
Debt Collection
- Lead debt recovery efforts across all MGA schools, ensuring effective strategies are in place to minimize outstanding balances.
Budgeting
- Oversee the budgeting process, including preparation, coordination, and monitoring of expenditures against approved budgets.
Expense Management
- Implement measures to minimize wastage and control expenses across all MGA schools, ensuring cost-efficiency.
Asset Management
- Maintain accurate records of fixed assets, ensuring safety, security, and proper accounting.
Accounting Policy
- Ensure compliance with the accounting policy, incorporating updates as required to align with best practices.
Stock Management
- Oversee school store operations, ensuring proper stock documentation, management, and accountability.
Internal Controls
- Strengthen internal control processes by ensuring reconciliations, accurate trial balances, and adherence to financial protocols.
Regulatory Compliance
- Guarantee full compliance with tax laws and other regulatory requirements, mitigating any financial risks.
Audits
- Plan and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring collaboration with auditors and implementation of audit recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting, with a track record of managing similar responsibilities in an educational or similar institutional setup.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
