Job Summary
APaD Kenya is seeking a responsible and experienced Driver & Logistics Officer to support transportation and logistical operations across its programs. The successful candidate will ensure safe and timely transport of staff and goods, support procurement and delivery processes, and maintain vehicles in good working condition. The role requires reliability, flexibility, and the ability to operate in remote and challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely drive APaD staff, visitors, and goods to project sites and official engagements as assigned
- Ensure the assigned vehicle is well-maintained, clean, and regularly serviced
- Monitor vehicle fuel consumption, mileage, and logbook entries, and report any mechanical issues
- Assist in the loading, offloading, and delivery of supplies, materials, and documents
- Follow and adhere to all traffic laws, organizational transport policies, and security protocols
- Support logistics functions such as picking up quotations, delivering parcels, or collecting items from suppliers
- Assist the operations team in managing stock movement and storage at the office or warehouse
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle use, repairs, and expenses
- Report any incidents, accidents, or vehicle malfunctions promptly
- Ensure that safety equipment and documentation (insurance, licenses, etc.) are up to date and available in the vehicle
Qualifications and Requirements
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent
- Valid Kenyan driver’s license (minimum Class B, C, or E) with a clean driving record
- At least 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian setting
- Certificate in defensive driving or basic mechanics is an added advantage
- Good understanding of vehicle maintenance, road safety, and local road networks
- Basic knowledge of logistics and procurement processes
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Swahili
- Physically fit and willing to work in remote areas and under demanding conditions
