Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to manage the contractual and financial aspects of construction projects, from initial cost estimation through to final account settlement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, project budgets and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare and evaluate tender documents, Bills of Quantities and quotations.
  • Measure and value completed works and prepare interim valuations and certificates.
  • Manage contracts with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs against approved budgets and identify cost variances.
  • Prepare and manage variation orders, claims and change requests.
  • Conduct cost analysis, risk assessments and value engineering.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts and final accounts.
  • Liaise with project managers, site engineers, architects, clients and contractors on commercial matters.
  • Maintain accurate records of project costs, contracts and correspondence.
  • Identify commercial risks and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  • Report project financial performance and commercial matters to the Managing Director.

Requirements

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as RICS, AAQS or equivalent is an added advantage.

Experience

  • 2–5 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation, contract administration and financial reporting.
  • Experience handling construction project valuations, variations, claims and final accounts.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and costs.
  • Proficiency in QS software such as CostX, Buildsoft or CATO and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts and standard forms such as JBCC, FIDIC and NEC.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively.
