Project Manager – Fiber Technology & Networks

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong hands-on fiber technology and network infrastructure experience to lead the projects team.

The ideal candidate must have practical experience in fiber optic networks, main-line and last-mile infrastructure, fiber technical support and project implementation. The candidate must also be able to prepare, interpret, review and correct fiber/network designs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage fiber and network infrastructure projects from planning and design through implementation and completion.
• Oversee main-line and last-mile fiber deployment and technical support activities.
• Provide technical leadership to the projects and field teams.
• Prepare and develop fiber and network designs for projects.
• Interpret technical drawings, fiber route plans, network diagrams and other project designs.
• Review designs, identify errors and recommend or implement appropriate corrections.
• Conduct site surveys and assessments and provide practical technical solutions.
• Coordinate fiber installation, splicing, testing, commissioning and fault resolution.
• Troubleshoot technical issues affecting fiber and network infrastructure.
• Coordinate field teams, contractors and other technical personnel during project implementation.
• Monitor project progress, quality, timelines and technical compliance.
• Ensure projects are delivered according to approved designs, specifications and standards.
• Prepare project reports and provide regular updates to management.
• Ensure proper documentation of project designs, installations, testing and handovers.

Requirements

• Degree, Diploma or relevant qualification in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, ICT, Networking or a related field.
• Proven experience in fiber optic technology and network infrastructure.
• Strong practical experience in main-line/backbone fiber networks.
• Experience in last-mile fiber deployment and technical support.
• Must be able to design, interpret and review fiber/network designs.
• Ability to identify and correct errors or inconsistencies in technical designs.
• Practical knowledge of fiber installation, splicing, testing and fault troubleshooting.
• Experience conducting fiber/network site surveys and preparing technical solutions.
• Proven experience managing technical projects and field teams.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Ability to work in the field and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Important Candidate Requirement

Candidates must have demonstrable fiber technical experience and the ability to design, interpret and correct fiber/network designs. Candidates with project management experience but without hands-on fiber technical and design experience may not be suitable for this role.
