Procurement Officer – Tech & IT

Express Data Networks is a leading provider of internet access, voice, and security solutions across Kenya, with a reputation for maintaining 99.5% network uptime despite challenging local conditions. We operate a hybrid network of fiber and wireless infrastructure and are an active participant in the Kenya Internet Exchange Point (KIXP).

2. Role Summary

We are looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented, and ethical Procurement Officer to manage the company's end-to-end procurement and supply chain activities. Reporting to the Head of Department, you will ensure the timely, cost-effective acquisition of high-quality goods and services essential to our network, sales, and administrative operations.

3. Key Responsibilities

Based on the Procurement, Stores & Logistics SOP, your duties will include:

• Procurement Process Management: Managing the end-to-end process, including requisition (FM-02), quotation evaluation, purchase order issuance (FM-03), and follow-up on delivery.

• Supplier Management: Identifying, evaluating, and selecting reliable suppliers. This includes prequalification, negotiation, and performance monitoring (Supplier Performance Register - FM-04).

• Inventory & Stores Management: Supporting the Storekeeper with receiving (GRN), issuance (IRF), and monthly stocktaking to maintain accurate inventory records (Inventory Register - FM-05).

• Foreign Purchases: Managing import documentation, coordinating with freight forwarders, and ensuring customs clearance for network equipment and infrastructure.

• Compliance: Ensuring all procurement activities comply with company policy (POL-01), the Law of Contract, and relevant regulations while enforcing the Data Protection Act.

• Cost Optimization: Analyzing spend, negotiating favorable terms, and executing budgeting processes to achieve value for money.

4. Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Certification:

• Membership with KISM or CIPS is an advantage.

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-4 years in a procurement role within a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in the telecommunications or technology industry is a distinct advantage.

Skills:

• Knowledge of end-to-end procurement procedures.

• Proficiency in ERP/inventory management software (experience with Splynx is an added advantage).

• Strong negotiation and analytical skills.

• High integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
