2. Job Purpose
The Workshop Supervisor at Mutara Orchards Limited will oversee the daily operations of our motor vehicles and heavy equipment maintenance workshop. He/she will be responsible for supervising a team of mechanics, ensuring the quality and efficiency of maintenance and repair services, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment. This role requires a strong technical background in automotive/mechanical and plant equipment repairs, leadership skills, and a commitment to exceptional service delivery.
3. Main Responsibilities
- Team Supervision: Lead, motivate, and manage a team of technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring their performance to ensure high-quality service
- Daily Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget while maintaining a high level of customer/staff satisfaction.
- Vehicle/Equipment Maintenance & Repairs: Perform and supervise the repair and maintenance of farm vehicles, tractors (John Deere), construction/farming plants, and equipment (Caterpillar), including diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and corrective repairs.
- Quality control: Review completed work to ensure it meets safety standards, company policies, and customer/staff expectations. Perform daily inspections. Coordinate with the Finance department, Procurement Section, to restock parts and
- Inventory & Equipment Management: Ensure that the workshop has the necessary tools, parts, and equipment for Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the procurement section to restock parts and supplies.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment.
- Administrative Support: Assist with scheduling and organizing automotive & equipment service timings, managing job priorities, and maintaining accurate records of work performed through job cards, and keeping updated vehicle master files to reflect the status of all vehicles.
- Problem-solving: Address and resolve any technical and mechanical service issues that arise during the maintenance process. Ensure that challenges are handled efficiently and professionally.
- Fuel Management: Ensure all fuel records and fuel levels are maintained including those of all fleet, generators on the farm. Oversee the receipt of fuel from suppliers and maintain accurate records for the fuel tank.

2. Qualification, Experience and Knowledge
- Higher National Diploma in Automotive/Plant/Mechanical
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably with experience working on a variety of vehicles, tractors, trucks, construction and farming equipment.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to hazardous waste disposal and the safe use of workshop tools.
